Anthony Tremblay’s first film was working as a miniature builder for Roger Corman’s Galaxy of Terror. The Production Designer was James Cameron, whose conceptual illustration provided much of Tremblays inspiration to become a designer himself.
After several years of working in special visual effects, the opportunity arose to Production Design Spaced Invaders, a film heavy in effects. “The film was a hybrid of Popular Science and fifties aircraft technology. Proportionately speaking, it is still the hardest film I’ve ever done. It was a vast amount of design and fabrication for very little time and money.” 1990 brought Miracle Landing, a television docu-drama about the Hawaiian island hoping airliner that lost a portion of it’s upper fuselage while in flight. Tremblay, whose background in effects, also served as the Visual effects Art Director on the picture that later won him an Emmy. In 1991 he designed Army of Darkness, directed by Sam Raimi (of Spiderman fame) considered today to be a cult classic. Also, for director Rob Zombie, Tremblay designed Devil’s Rejects and Halloween, a remake of the original. Other films include Time Cop 2, Return of the Living Dead 3, Addams Family Reunion, Beethoven’s 5th, American Pie- Band Camp and soon to be released Miss Nobody and Dark and Stormy Night. |
